Segmenting and Blending Worksheets

Have you ever had a student say sounds in isolation but then had trouble connecting sounds when reading words? Then these segmenting and blending worksheets are for them!

Additive and Successive Blending is an instructional strategy with students starting with the first two sounds in a word, blending them, and then adding the next sound. It supports students that struggle with short-term and working memory because they are applying phoneme blending each step of the way.

This resource will enable students to connect speech sounds (phonemes) to letters (graphemes). All Segmenting and Blending Worksheets have real and nonsense words.

These pages can be used in various ways!

•Small Groups

•Centers

•Interventions

•Independent work (if the concept has been taught)
