Exciting New Resource: UFLI-Inspired Decodable Passages
Have you ever heard of UFLI? If not, feel free to ask me more about it. It's a fantastic resource with an excellent scope and sequence for teaching reading. However, I've found that while the decodable passages are useful, they could be better. One issue is the lack of comprehension questions with every passage. Additionally, the passages don't offer a mechanism to sort out the specific phonics skill your students are learning about.
UFLI-Inspired Decodable Passages and Readers
To address these shortcomings, I've been working on crafting 5 new decodable passages for EACH of the lessons that follow the UFLI scope and sequence (these decodable readers are not part of the UFLI curriculum). These passages will ensure your students truly understand what they read and can effectively read, write, and sort targeted words from the decodable passages.
Wondering what decodable passages are? They're short, controlled texts that only include the phonics patterns that the student has learned so far. It's an effective way to help students apply their knowledge of phonics to actual reading.
Lucky for you, I've been writing away and plan to upload a new lesson every day. If this sounds like something you'd find useful, you can grab individual lessons as they come out or take advantage of the incredibly discounted bundle.
This bundle includes five decodable passages and readers for each of the following lessons:
I hope you find this resource as valuable as I do. As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need more information.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
